Ferrari SF90 Spider

Ferrari SF90 Spider

Ferrari's all-new 1,000 hp SF90 Spider is the most potential car offered by Ferrari. This SF90 Spider was just announced which now takes the crown of the fastest from the last year plug-in hybrid SF90 Stradale by speeding off with 1000 hp under the hood and an open-air drive. This car was named after the Ferrari's racing team's 90th anniversary. It will be running with a combination of a turbocharged V8 and aided with 3 electric motors to reach the total output of 1000 hp and torque output of 590 lb-ft.

This is a new achievement taken by Ferrari. It is a masterpiece designed and sculpted by the professionals at Ferrari. The weight of the car is kept to the bare minimum at 3,682 pounds (1,670 kg). This makes the car hit 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds and maxing out at 211 mph. It is super impressive as Ferrari is known for keeping its ground at higher speeds.

“If you talk about the stiffness and rigidity of the car, we have sustained the performance of the coupe,” said Michael Leiters, Ferrari’s chief technical officer, during the unveiling. “This is why we already considered the spider version during the coupe’s development.”“We can decide in every moment how much we want to brake with the hydraulic system and how much we can brake with the regenerative system,” said Leiter.

The convertible top mechanism is quite fast which opens and retracts in under 14 seconds. The damping material increases the strength and rigidity of the whole framework. Ferrari has tweaked up this system with new technology with the latest electronic traction system, torque vectoring and brake-by-wire control which helps the car split the breaking responsibility between the hydraulic component and the electric motors regenerative system.

When it comes to aerodynamics, the vehicle excels with 3 outstanding components. The Shut-off Gurney is an aero system that adjusts for higher downforce and lower drag. The other component is tucked under the bodywork which silently increases the downforce. The last component helps the car stay touch with the road, it is the all-new forged wheels which peaks the aero efficiency even higher. It is designed in such a way that it kills 2 birds with one stone by reducing the pressure accumulated in the wheels and optimizes the airflow for smoother airflow.

The interior is also a segment where it has been redesigned. With new digital drivers display and minor refinement helping the driver to focus such as better heads up display and easily accessed switches on the steering wheel spokes. The forged wheels are accompanied with a track-focused Michelin Pilot Sports Cup 2 tires which increases the traction, reduce the weight by 46 pounds and increase grip on the track.

“The number of new Ferrari [customers] that have been attracted by the SF90 is much higher than expected,” stated Enrico Galliera, Ferrari’s chief commercial and marketing officer. “We have reached a number close to 50 per cent so far, and the number entering is younger versus the average age of new clients in our product range.”

Totally forgot to mention the price tag on this Ferrari. It will be costing an eye-watering $650,000 dollars (2.4 Million Dhs). It will be under the delivery process by the second quarter of 2021. Ferrari has raised the bar for Supercars.
